I will never draw anything more magnificent than this bat-toad-scorpion ombra. This is it, my art has peaked, I can stop now.
We’re at the halfway point of the chapter! This has been a very difficult chapter to draw, what with a lot of daunting action scenes. Chapter 7 was also very challenging; I was trying to transition into drawing the daemons more realistically, and it was the first chapter to be heavy in interior / exterior scenery. I experienced some acute growing pains dealing with both those artistic challenges, and it manifested in some very inconsistent art because I felt like every panel was an experiment in seeing what worked and what didn’t. I feel in this chapter that I’ve finally hit a good balance with the daemons’ designs: not too realistic, but not too cartoony, either, and pinning down the style I want has allowed me to be a bit more consistent. I’m going to be working hard to continue to improve consistency, however, as I know it’s always been one of my major weak points.
A very badass design! Sound effects and shading on this page is so good, I can totally hear and sense the weight of the splindly legs stabbing into the ground and moving in for the big chomp.
