BUT WHERE’S THE NERD NEWS, LEE. GEEK OUT ABOUT VIDEO GAMES ALREADY.

Okay, okay, if you insist. XD The World Ends With You is coming to the Switch in just a few weeks and I’m so ridiculously excited for it because that is one of my all-time favourite games. I’m going to say it takes a lot to impress me anymore as far as books or video games go simply because I’ve burned through so many. But this one wow’d me from start to finish. If you want some amazing writing in an action-RPG with an awesome, artistic style, it doesn’t get much better than that one. I also admit I never could finish all the post-game challenges because that game is HARD, but in a way that feels actually rewarding rather than inducing system-flinging frustration.

Also I’m enjoying Octopath Traveller and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, but the former is very grindy, so I only play it in small bursts between other games. Also, for a game that’s so focused on having eight stories to experience, it’s nothing but a wailing wall of JRPG tropes and clichéd dialogue. As in, I’ve played through almost these exact stories with near-identical characters several dozen times at least. Aside from the yawn-worthy writing, however, the gameplay is very entertaining.
