Updating the Website

Over the next weeks or months I’m going to be overhauling this site. A comprehensive redesign has been long overdo, and it will likely take me quite a while to fully complete. My current to-do list, roughly in order of priority:

  • Speeding up load times
  • Refreshing the appearance
  • Streamlining the site by cutting out a lot of the sidebar widgets and extra pages
  • Bigger navigation buttons
  • Building a mobile theme
  • Possibly moving dead comics (EA/NMSP) and the art gallery from comic archives into image galleries

    • This is all going to require quite a lot of time, especially since Comicpress is no loner being supported by its author. The mobile theme will be especially time-consuming since I need to create it from scratch myself while sifting through someone else’s code, which has little to no commenting or documentation.

    February News

    Hey all, just dropping this update to say that even though there aren’t any comic pages, I’m hard at work behind the scenes. Most of my February has been taken up by busy work like website maintenance, putting some polish on my Gumroad shop, and editing my next novelette. I’ve also been doing some commission work and helping out around SpiderForest.

    Work on my next novelette, Sarah’s Journal is going steadily as well. This is the long-promised story that fills in the narrative gap between Eryl’s prologue and Chapter 1. I’m not sure how much longer it will take— the second draft is finished and will be sent to my beta reader soon. She has her own busy life, so I’m not going to rush her or give her any deadline to read through it and give me feedback. After that is the third (and hopefully final) draft, and then formatting, illustrations, and cover art which will take a not-inconsiderable amount of work.

    TL;DR Progress is being made, but release is still some months away and will likely be near the end of the redux (but I make no promises on that timeline).

    I’ve also started a new blog! I haven’t had a proper blog in many years and would like to make new attempt at it. This blog is an experiment, and I want to use it to talk about art and writing: my process, my thoughts, and whatever else I feel like sharing. I don’t plan to update it with any regularity as I want to keep it a chill and stress-free hobby.
