I’ve been on a tear the past few days with loose speedpaints on my iPad. I drew so much, I wore out the rubber nib on my bamboo stylus and had to order more. There were more than what I’m posting, but these are the best ones. Done in an app called ‘Paper by 53.’
I already announced this via vote incentive, but here’s the scoop in a less roundabout fashion. I did manage to sketch the next Eryl page directly on the computer in Manga Studio. It was a long, messy, angsty process which I am not at all comfortable with, but at least it got done. I have inked it and am laying flats now. Expect the finished page in a day or two! I still am pining for a driver for my scanner, but at least I know I can resort to digital sketching when desperate. As much as I wished this meant a return to regular updates, I am still going to have to post pages sporadically. This might actually mean more pages at times since I’ll be putting them up as I finish them instead of waiting for Tuesdays.
Well, I do most of my writing on my iPad now using the Pages app so I can easily sync it with Pages on my macbook. With iOS 7 out, the Pages app updated and told me I needed to update Pages on my macbook if I was to continue swapping files between them. Well, okay, then I found I need to upgrade to OSX Maverick to update the application on my desktop. Half a day later, Maverick finally installed. All was well until I scanned an illustration for my new novel project… and the file wouldn’t save because the driver didn’t work right on Maverick. I have had this HP Scanjet for about 7 or 8 years and it used to give me grief but has worked perfectly since I got a new macbook and installed the Lion-compatible driver. Evidently that driver is not good for Maverick and I’m crossing my fingers that HP will release a new driver for my model soon and not drop support for it. It’s an ageing scanner, but still works great and I’ve no desire to have to replace it. I can still write and sketch… I just can’t do the computer end of the art process so I won’t have anything to show online until this all gets sorted. :/ And unfortunately I am crap at sketching digitally, so that’s not really a viable option.
Okay, GEEK OUT TIME for Pokémon Y. It is a pretty impressive game (though I still much prefer Black and White). I thought Mega Evolution was pretty cheesy and tacked on, but that’s just my own opinion. Other than that, I found it very good. I was pleased to see the return of in-game berry fields and loved the trade-anywhere features (I also think I might be addicted to wonder trades). I’m not so good at battling (as in, suck so bad it’s hilarious for my opponents), so I was releived at how easy it is to level up your pokémon (srsly, I was lvl 80 by the time I finished and the Champion was a pushover), especially with the new Exp. Share mechanic.
I was KINDA pleased to see the pokéradar come back. I’d never used it before because I hated D/P/Pt, but I knew it was a method for obtaining shiny pokémon. I’ve been using it the past few days without much luck (highest chain after hours and hours of using it was 16. Blech). And I was using it again a short while ago, getting a chain of about 10 duckletts (now that’s a high chain for me, usually I don’t get past 4 or 5) and WHOA a croagunk jumps out and breaks my chain. But as you’ll see below, I was thrilled about it.
SO NOW TO DA POINT- I’m LOOKIN’ FOR 3DS FRIENDS.
This is mostly (okay, completely) because I need more friends for the friend safari. You don’t actually need to play Pokémon X or Y for it to work. Every friend code registered on my 3DS will show up in my friend safari so I can find rare ‘mon. So if you have a 3DS and feel like swappin’ codes, please comment below! My own code is: 1977-0484-7209
