Okay, I know it’s been quite a while since i posted any redux previews, but Real Life has prevented me from working on this project lately. But it is not dead. I’m currently outlining the redux, and will then work on scripting. I had started drawing it a few months ago before realising that the scripts I had then weren’t working out at all. The plot was becoming confusing and convoluted. I realised that this was because I was sticking too closely to the original story. So after much thought, I found a far better way of telling it that will hopefully be much clearer. Downside? It’s going to be much longer than I previously planned. The first redux scripts were going to be a little longer than the original, but now they’re going to probably be at least 3 times longer. I’m going to condense as much as I can without sacrificing too much detail and development, but it is still going to be quite long. This doesn’t daunt me too much, because I’m really looking forward to drawing it. I feel that it is much richer and more believable than the original. It gives some characters a lot more development. A couple of them didn’t get much time in the original, but in the redux we will get to meet them properly. It will spend a lot more time on the daemons- we will get to see where they live and more of how their society is structured. It’s going to take a lot of work and planning, but I’m feeling pretty good about the story now. It may be a long time before I start updating it, but I hope you’ll stick with me. I’ll continue posting previews and artwork. You can subscribe to the RSS to keep following and be alerted of any news pertaining to the comic.

As I work on the redux, I will be posting preview snippets of the comic, mostly my favourite panels… those that are not spoilers. I will try to post a new one at least every other week, if not one a week- depending on how fast I’m working. You can also see then on my DeviantART page.

Well, I know I said it would be dead for a long time… but the truth is, I really really miss drawing Fawna’s Quest. I thought I’d be able to put it down for a few years… but I think I was wrong. I miss when it was just Fawna’s Quest, before I started Eryl. Don’t panic!! I won’t be dropping Eryl, either. I was thinking of rotating them. Say… 2 chapters Fawna’s Quest would update, then 1 chapter of Eryl, then back to FQ, and so on. I know I can’t update both at once.
What I really miss even more than the story is working in greyscale. Eryl is a constant struggle for me because I’m NOT a colour artist. It’s one reason that my colour works are often very monotone. I’ve considered more than once switching Eryl to greyscale, but decided against it every time. I hate it when colour comics turn b/w, and Eryl I think is a story better conveyed in colour. So the only greyscale comic I have right now is Easily Amused. But it’s done digitally, not traditionally like Fawna’s Quest, and working in pencil is something I really want to do again. You can take it anywhere without having to need a power outlet or somewhere to put your tablet. I also liked how pretty the pencil pages looked once I finished them. There was also a finality about them. Once drawn and shaded and scanned, I couldn’t keep going back and adjusting things like I do constantly in Eryl. I’m such a perfectionist that I will kkep doing things over and over. I was forced not to keep tweaking in FQ once a page was finished because it was done traditionally.
So once Chapter 2 of Eryl is over, the comic will be going on break until January or February of ‘10 while I work on scripts and drawing chapter 1 of FQ. I’d like to have a few chapters of the redux done before it actually goes up. So I’m shooting for FQ’s 4th anniversary- May 21, 2010. BUT it all depends on how much I’ve gotten done by then. So it may be later than that.
