This morning I got some new fanart in my e-mail from Sporkitude! Thank you so much; it’s been years since I got any reader art and I’m super happy!
She mentioned in her e-mail about not noticing Arra’s strange feet until she had to draw them, so I thought I’d share a little about Great Dragon anatomy: their two middle toes have large, blunt claws used for walking, while the outer two toes have long, razor sharp claws for killing. These killing claws are kept lifted off the ground while walking or sitting so they won’t grow dull, though for comfort’s sake, are extended while laying down. They will sharpen their claws much like cats, by scratching on large trees.
And if you’re wondering why in the prologue neither Arra nor Strake have these funky feet- it’s my own fault for deciding on this design AFTER I had drawn the prologue. So there’s really no excuse for the inconsistency other than I often change my mind about things partway through a project.

So… I’ve got this scheme I’m hatching. Some people may be unhappy about it, but meh, I’m doing it anyway. See, I’m nearly done drawing Chapter 3. I have about 2 1/2 pages left and I’m hoping to get it done this week (Chapter 3 will conclude online on December 4th, btw). I was going to update Chapter 4 twice a week, and that’s when the evil plan hatched in my head. I am currently mortified by Chapter 2: Black Feathers. I drew the first pages way back in high school (and that was longer ago than I care to think of). then drew some while in college, then drew some while I was too ill to see straight. And the result is… a mess. An inconsistent, embarrassing mess. The art, the writing, it’s all over the place. I want… no, I need to redo it. So while Chapter 4 is updating, I will also be working on reduxing Chapter 2. I will try to draw a page of each every week. So while I will be doing 2 pages, you guys will only see one, the Chapter 4 page. If I can balance it right, I will be able to finish both around the same time. Ideally, I will then start updating the reduxed pages at a pretty good clip. At least 3 pages a week so that we aren’t spending months and months only seeing rehashed material. I’m also going to be reordering the archives at that time. What is currently updating as Chapter 3 will become Chapter 2, 4 will become 3, and the redux of 2 will come after both, as 4. And if you followed all that, you’re awesome.

Hey guys, even though I manage all of Flowerlark Studios by my lonesome, I’m actually pretty sucky when it comes to webcode. I noticed that A- the mp3 player on the sidebar does not display correctly on a windows and B- it has suddenly stopped working. The song isn’t loading for me and I attempted to install another mp3 player, but with the same result. I know that my host is currently upgrading my server, so that could very well be the problem, but I’d like to know of anyone else can or can’t load the song, and to please let me know. If no-one can load it, then I figure it’s my host going through the upgrade process and hopefully in a few days it’ll start working again. If some people can, then I need to start pulling my hair out trying to figure out what the hell went wrong and how to fix it when I know only HTML and rudimentary CSS. -_-*
Edit- Had to replace the pretty player with a less pretty but much more functional one. Problem was the old player just wasn’t loading the song properly, but it seems to be working now.
So the site got a major overhaul with Comicpress in preparation for its return from hiatus! I’m very proud of it- it’s my most polished site yet. Check back May 8th, 2012 for a brand new page!!
