I just finished Ōkami HD. This was my second full playthrough, the first being the Wii port. I was amazed that playing with the traditional controls worked so much better than the Wii’s motion controls. I mean, you’d think motion controls would be a natural fit for a game about attacking by drawing with a brush, BUT NO. A lot of the sidequests I’d felt were impossible on the Wii suddenly felt perfectly doable.

So I went and did a 100% playthrough for Ōkami HD. 😀 I left no side quest unfinished, treasure unclaimed, move unlearned, stray bead unearned, fish uncaught, nor animal unfed. There was only one trophy I missed earning, and that was escaping the sunken ship without being eaten by the water dragon, so I’ll have to get that in my new game+.

I drew this piece to celebrate. It’s a kind of redo of this old piece:

I always liked the concept of Amaterasu using her tail brush in a painting, but my technical skills at the time were woefully insufficient for capturing what I wanted to do. But now I can do it! So we have Ammy howling at a moon she just drew herself with Yumigami’s brush technique.
