Also, EA will start updating sporadically after this Wednesday, as I’m concentrating so much on FQ that I had no leftover time for it.

Excerpt from the Fawna’s Quest novel:

It looked like a shooting star, only it sped along its path below the cover of clouds. It lit up the night with its brilliance, turning the grey wintry landscape into a shining silver. Sparkling motes of light trailed behind it, glittering like miniature constellations before slowly fading away. Teze stared transfixed at it’s beauty, and it seemed to him that in that moment, not only he, but the entire world held it’s breath as the thing that would change its fate arched across the sky.

Yes, it is in fact now a book! you can purchase your own very shiny awesome copy at Indyplanet! I have been buying comics from Indyplanet for years, and I’ve always been VERY happy with the quality. Only once they messed up an order of mine, and as soon as I let them know, they resent the correct book. If I hadn’t been happy with Ka-Blam printing, I wouldn’t list them.

Right now I’m writing the prose version of Fawna’s Quest, chapter I. I have the prologue finished (both prose and comic… it’s pretty short both ways) plus 9 comic pages of chapter I. I’m trying to decide how I’m going to be updating the prose and the comic. Should I place the prose before the comic chapter, after, or give it an entirely separate archive? Hmmmm…

Fawna’s Quest: This comic is most definitely going to continue, but I want to wait until I have a sizeable buffer before restarting it. Also a slight bump in its production is that it needs rewriting. I had the first couple chapters scripted, and things were falling apart. The story was becoming so convoluted even I couldn’t follow it. However, shortly afterwards I had a stroke of brilliance (or stupidity) and thought of a much better way of sequencing everything. But at the moment my brains are still too scrambled to do any quality writing (or drawing). One of my medications caused insomnia, and though I am now off that medication, I’m still having trouble sleeping. Not good for having collected thoughts and creative inspiration. BUT if you are patient with me, you will see the return of Fawna’s Quest.

Easily Amused: Well, folks, I’m not as sure about this one. I really enjoyed doing it, but Reby’s graduating this year. I’m still on medical leave, and when I return to school I’ll only be a junior. And Reby will not be there. I may continue the comic solo when I return to school, but I’m uncertain about this. It’s just not the same without Reby. So even though there’s a possibility of its resurrection, for now I’m calling it finished. Later I’ll get some place holder art up there.

Dark Wings: This one’s a little fuzzy at the moment. I’m not sure how much I’m enjoying doing it anymore. I feel that it’s too cliché and inconsistent, not to mention the glaring plot holes. I tried really hard and fell down really hard on this one. However, I also feel that there’s still interest in its continuation. So I’m going to say reeeeeaaaaallly long hiatus for the moment, and see if in the future my inspiration for it returns. I’d like to get Fawna’s Quest mostly done before I start thinking about Eryl again.

Epic Fail!: Of all the comics, this would be the first to return. I have a lot of saved up ideas for it that I really want to draw. I’m not concerned about the art in this one since it’s a silly gaming comic and would never be printed or taken seriously in any way. It would be a good therapy for me to get back into the groove of drawing and comic making. So once I start getting some sleep again and if my headaches don’t return, expect some new entries in the Epic Fail! section.

Tutorials: Oh yeah, there used to be a tutorials section on here, didn’t there? And there’s all those, um, broken links and stuff I’ve been avoiding. It’ll get done, most likely once I feel well enough for comics I’ll feel well enough for better site maintenance.

Also, apologies for all the broken links on the Eryl section and other site sections. I haven’t had the opportunity to fix them since the redesign, or to get the tutorials back up. But it shall (eventually) be done, just like my blog about how the surgery went.

Well folks, I regret to say that it will likely be a very long time before Eryl or Fawna’s Quest update. Most of you are well aware that I have been in very bad health for the past 2 years. I have been home from college on medical leave the whole time, mostly bedridden. Some days it’s so bad I can’t even open my eyes. Fortunately, it goes up and down. Right now it’s ‘up,’ so I’m able to work on the website a little and play some video games. I just recently came back from LA where there’s a specialist who can help my condition.

I’ve explained a few times what’s wrong, but for newer people or anyone who missed it, I’ll explain again. I have what’s called cisternal fistulas. That means there’s a tear somewhere in the membrane surrounding my spinal cord and brain, so I’m constantly leaking spinal fluid. This causes low-pressure headaches. Terrible, awful, and crippling migraines. These leaks happen spontaneously because my spine is covered in about a dozen or more small cysts that will occasionally burst, forming a tear. There is a specialist out in Beverly Hills, LA (the ONLY expert on this in the country) who can help me, but these measures are often temporary. So even though sometimes I’m almost headache free, they keep coming back as the cysts burst. Even when I’m doing well, this condition has a long recovery time, so I’ve never been completely well as the headaches return before I’ve really had a chance to recover much.

All this makes it very hard to draw and write a quality comic. I’m tired of getting complaints about how the comics are so awful, so I’m putting them on indefinite hiatus until my health stays good for at least 6 months. If I can go 6 months without the headaches coming back, then there’s only a 10% chance of them returning. So far my record is 4 months. But I want to wait until I can really see well enough again to do the detailed work that Eryl and FQ require.

Easily Amused has a chance of returning in a few weeks, but I’m not sure about it yet. If everything goes well, then in a few weeks I’d like to start up Epic Fail again. Since it’s a silly comic, the art doesn’t matter as much. Plus drawing silly things lifts my spirits in this difficult stage of my life. In the meantime, I’m going to make an effort to blog more. I have some inspirational stories I’d like to tell, along with game reviews and other stuff. The website remodeling is almost done. I just have to get the links and tutorials back up. It may take a few days.
