Now that my health is a little better I am opening up sketch commissions. If you are interested in commissioning me, please e-mail me at flowerlark AT gmail DOT com.

Some important info:
2- My health is better, but not perfect. It may take me a while to draw your picture, so please be patient. You may gently nudge me on occasion.
3- Prices are not negotiable. You must pay for shipping, which is NOT included in the commission price. Shipping will vary depending on you’re location. Withint the US it should be around $1.70, give or take a little depending on your state. Commissions are shipped first class. If you live outside the US I’ll find out shipping prices for you.
4- I accept payment through Paypal. I will send you an invoice once your commission is complete, so PLEASE specify which e-mail is attached to your paypal account. I will also accept checks.
5- I will be sending you sketches and such through e-mail as I go for your approval. Please respond to them as promptly as possible.

WHAT YOU GET
If you order a plain sketch, you will receive the original sketch in the mail, plus a high-res scan of it through e-mail. I can also make CDs of your high-res scan/ coloured piece if you desire and send them along with the original sketch. Sketches will be done on 9×12 100lb smooth bristol.

Greyscale sketch of one figure Sample – $10
With a background – Sample 1 – Sample 2 – $15
Add an additional figure- $5 per extra figure

Coloured sketch with simple background – Sample – $25
Please help out by buying a commission! You can also purchase prints. If there is a non-fanart piece of mine you want a print of that I’m not offering as a print already, please comment here with a link to the piece and I will make it into a print for you.Now that my health is a little better I am opening up sketch commissions.

This is my first attempt at a realistic human(ish) in clay. There are some really glaring mistakes, but for a first try and an experiment, I think he turned out pretty well. It was originally going to be Rava from Fawna’s Quest, but it ended up not really looking like him, and I wasn’t ambitious enough to attempt his bob-cut in clay. So now he’s a miscellaneous Asian elf with a mop-top. Unfortunately, his mouth was squashed (twice) and I had to redo it a few times. I don’t like his new mouth as much as the original one

As you can see by the paint bottles in the background, he’s quite small; only 3 1/2 inches tall.
Super Sculpey, Black Sculpey, and acrylic paints. Time: ? Probably between 8 and 10 hours
Listening to: Pachelbel’s Canon and Gigue in D

I’ve been trying to get things together to eventually open up an Etsy shop. I riffled through many old nature photographs taken between 4-7 years ago to make prints of for sale. These are some of my favourites that I ran across, and ones that I thought were particularly poetic. ‘At My fingertips’ had its colours tweaked in Photoshop, but the other two remain unaltered. 2/3 of these will be available for sale once I open up shop. But if there are enough requests to see ‘At My Fingertips’ as a print, I’ll include it too.

EDIT- I totally forgot, tomorrow’s my birthday! Lv23!

Mood: Bored

I had this whole huge big long rant I was going to give about making this sculpture, and now I’ve completely forgotten it.

Grrr, the right foreleg got bent in the oven and it BOTHERS me to no end. I plan on selling this once I- A: Paint it, and B: find out how to ship these things without them breaking. But I think the bent leg drops it’s value by… a lot. I would have sold it at $100, but I’m probably going to price it at $75 or less. That’s not even minimum wage…

As far as shipping goes, I assume that my one sculpture sale, Hoofed Dragon, made it all the way to England okay because I never heard from my customer after the payment went through. I’m certain that if it arrived broken, I would have been informed right away. But Hoofed Dragon was much less fragile. Any sculptors out there have advice on packaging thin and fragile clay pieces?

Rawr.

He comes to life!

Edit- I added a progression series on making Fenrir. Also, I highly recommend books by Katherine Dewey for other aspiring sculptors. I use very similar methods as the ones she outlines in her books, seeing as I learned to sculpt by reading her animal book. She is, of course, also much better than I and far far more experienced.

Phew, I’m trying to get ready to open up shop on Etsy, and there’s so much to do! I’m listing it here so I don’t forget any of it.

Scan and crop old photographs of flowers and butterflies (also touch up a few in Photoshop )

Make 5×7 prints of said photographs

Cut lots and lots of mattes, then use them for framing watercolours and photo prints

Finish painting and sealing Fenrir

take better photos of older sculptures

Find out how to package sculptures so they don’t break in the mail

Research prices and sizes of flat-rate shipping boxes and envelopes

Get an Etsy account

There’s also something I want to sell on Indyplanet. AND if there are ANY of my original paintings or drawings (that means ones that aren’t fanart) that you would like to buy as a print on Indyplanet, please let me know and I’ll make it happen! Indyplanet has much cheaper print prices than DeviantART.

Fenrir is © Leah Colagiacomo 2010. Do not repost unless a link is provided to this page. I’m getting tired of finding art thieves and people posting my work to galleries/ blogs without giving a link back to me.

Half a year after moulding it, I FINALLY got around to painting her! A buffamoo from the game Rune Factory. The buffamoos are my favourite monsters. You can’t beat a cow that looks like it’s going to eat you. My cat actually broke this shortly after I took these photos, and I had to glue it back together. Luckily the paint hides most of the cracks.

I wouldn’t want to milk this one…

And yeah, my paint jobs suck. Acrylics hate me. I much prefer using watercolours, but they don’t bind well to the clay and flake off easily, even after being sprayed with fixative. Too bad you can’t paint these thing with oils…

EDIT: Got the background tutorial up!!

Hey look, I can do arts again! If pokémon counts as art. Which it most certainly doesn’t. But making these cute little guys is a good therapy for me, and a way to ease myself back into being creative. They’re simple, quick, and easy to make, which is what I need right now. Kudos points to anyone who can name all the pokémon pictured. They were made from super sculpey clay, then baked and painted in acrylics. The second picture gives you an idea of the scale. I have tiny hands, too. So these guys are pretty darn small.

EDIT: Look, Ma, I got the tutorials back online!!

I just received this amazing fanart of an Eryl wyvern from Arkani! Bask in it’s awesomeness and check out the rest of her gallery! And for some weird reason lightbox is shrinking images. X(

Also, apologies for all the broken links on the Eryl section and other site sections. I haven’t had the opportunity to fix them since the redesign, or to get the tutorials back up. But it shall (eventually) be done, just like my blog about how the surgery went.

So, usually I only show my successes, but even the best artists have art-fart days. (or weeks, months, years…). I’ve had more than my share of these, the most recent of which being yesterday and today. I was attempting some fanart, and I think it might have been an overly ambitious venture for my state of current health. I should have known after ripping off and reshaping the legs about 3 times… but no, I kept of forging ahead. The result of which was a very pretty but very unstable dragon. Had I properly supported it in the oven, this wouldn’t've happened! 10 minutes into baking, he fell over in the oven. This is why when you have a standing sculpture, you should support it with upturned glasses, not foil. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES. After he came out all dented and drooping with a twisted leg, I managed to repair it a little by breaking off the twisted foot and re-moulding it and patching over the dents with fresh clay, then putting it back in the oven for 10 minutes. He’s too droopy really for it to be worth painting, so I’m sharing it with you as-is. Why? ‘Cause I spent so many $#@&! hours on it that I don’t care it if turned into a lump, I’m posting it, danget!! *fume fume fume*
