My ever growing horde of Pokémon sculptures. All made with sculpey and painted in acrylics.

I imagine this is the last thing Gannondorf saw before he died.

I was rifling through my photos a few days ago looking for something to paint. I ran across this one that a friend had taken of me in my Link costume years ago. The photo itself was terrible- murky and grainy. But the pose and angle looked so epic that I couldn’t resist painting it.

So here we are.

I sculpted this ‘lil guy over a year ago and just got around to painting it now. And if you think this is looking awfully familiar, I guess you’re right.

Made with sculpey, a polymer clay. Size: Not sure, but probably it stands no more than 3 1/2 – 4″ tall. I’ll have exact measurements later.

This one was a butt to paint.

Yet another batch of pokémon sculptures. This round features (from left to right): Virizion, Chikorita, Archeops, Shaymin (land forme), and Shaymin (sky forme).

Don’t ask for scale, I’m too lazy to measure them. They’re really tiny. Shaymin (land forme) is probably about the circumference of an American nickel.

This sculpture was made from super sculpey, a polymer clay. I formed it over a foil and wire armature. After sculpting the head and body I made the legs separately and then baked them before attaching them to the body so it would be much sturdier when it stood. I did the same with the antlers. Then came the scary part- standing the whole thing up in the oven and hoping that even though it was well supported that nothing would droop or fall off. Well, the ear fell off and the raised leg drooped. After some angst I broke off the leg and made a new one. This time I laid the sculpture on its side to bake the new leg. Then I glued the ear back on- disaster averted! Now all he needs is some paint! :3

Ashes

I am most eager to get this one off of hiatus. I have already started sketching and have 5 finished pages and 3 roughly sketched pages of chapter 2. I am aiming to start updates again in early 2012, as this will give me time to build a buffer.

Epic Fail

EF was updating every couple days last week, but updates are being cut back to once a week. I’m going to try to have a new page every Friday, but balancing EF work and Ashes work will be difficult, so some updates will be missed (including this Friday because Halloween preparations took up a lot of time).

Easily Amused

I still consider this project pretty much finished, though I may be adding a strip here and there in the future. Don’t really expect updates for it, though.

Dark Wings: Eryl

I also want to bring this one off of hiatus in 2012, though it’ll likely be later in the year as Ashes takes precedence over this project. I have the last three pages of chapter 2 drawn but only about a third coloured. I’ve just been lacking the drive to finish and upload them. Chapter 3-4 scripts need rewriting. Chapter 4 marks the end of the first book. The second book will take some doing, as I’m not liking how I’m telling it right now. It’s part of the reason I’ve felt so lackluster about the whole Eryl project since it went on hiatus some years ago. I need to rethink how the story is being told- which is not a particularly easy task.

Also, I dug this up today- an old painting from 2007 of Rava that I thought I’d lost. I don’t want to put it in the gallery as it does not reflect my current abilities, so I’m putting it here instead.

Some of you may remember I did a very similar pumpkin painting of a raven a few years ago. Well, this time I did it on a fake pumpkin so my art wouldn’t rot away.
